Nécrologie de Daphne Joyce Battiste

In Loving Memory of Daphne Battiste (née Hefford)

We remember and honour the life of Daphne Battiste (née Hefford), a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and love for others defined who she was.

Daphne was born on November 24, 1948, in New Perlican, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, to Myra Hefford (née Payne) and Peter Hefford. She was raised in the close-knit Newfoundland community she always held dear and remained a proud Newfoundlander throughout her life. Although she made her home in Toronto, Ontario, Newfoundland always held a special place in her heart. She returned home every year to spend cherished time with family and friends and to reconnect with the people and places she loved.

I met Daphne 47 years ago when I moved in across the street from her and Frank. We became instant friends. Our friendship became very close. She was like my sister. We spent a lot of time together sitting and talking, shopping, playing board games, watching our kids together. Our family trips together going over to the States together to go to Cedar Point , Darian Lake and others. During that time Daphne and I would hit the stores and would shop till we dropped. We wouldn't even stop to

Daphne was my sister and my best friend, we shared everything we would talk for hours on the phone and when our mom passed away, she took her place. She was always there for support for my sister, Marg and me, every time I needed her for advice or anything she was there. I used to call her mom and we would laugh. Daphne now you’re my Angel in heaven and I know you are watching over me. Until we meet again I love you Rest in Peace, my dear sister❤️
