Moira Danielle West's Obituary

Moira Danielle West, age 13, of Evergreen Park, IL, left us earth-side on July 15, 2025.

Moira was a vibrant, funny, and fiercely loyal young woman who made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. With a heart as big as her smile, she was brave, protective, and wise beyond her years. Whether she was cracking jokes, offering a shoulder to lean on, or belting out a song around the house, Moira radiated love and joy in everything she did.

She loved playing softball, dancing, singing in choir, making bracelets for friends, and experimenting with makeup—always adding her own creative flair. A natural performer from the time she could walk, she was constantly singing and never missed an opportunity to entertain or uplift those around her. Her signature side-eye and perfectly timed eye rolls became beloved trademarks, as did her ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and, most of all, loved.

Moira is survived by her mother, Kelsey Cochrane, and father, John West; her siblings Jackson, Lola, Russell, and Gemma; her maternal grandparents Christine Cochrane and Jerry & Michelle Anderson; her paternal grandparents Cynthia and Jamey Devine; her great-grandmother Sharon Webber; great-uncle John Cochrane and great-aunt Julie Cochrane; her aunt Kimberly Watts; cousins Selden (Jordan), Collette, Tommy, Will, Finnegan, Janet and Alyson; and her godparents Tyler Hawa, Sue Kirby, and Patrick Kirby, as well as many extended family members and friends who adored her.

She is preceded in death by her “Papa,” James Bernard West, and “Papa Jimmy,” James Webber.

A public service will be held at Palmetto Mortuary in Greenville, SC on Tuesday, July 22, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM and a memorial service following at 2:00 PM. A celebration of Moira’s life will also be held in Illinois at a later date. Flowers can be sent to Palmetto Mortuary.

Moira’s presence was a gift. Her spirit lives on in the laughter she sparked, the hearts she touched, and the love she gave so freely. Though her time here was far too short, her legacy will echo in every memory shared, every song sung, and every bracelet worn in her honor.
