We first met in 1990… in Kano, at an AGM marked by tension, controversy, and defining moments. Yet, from that unlikely beginning, something remarkable was born.
What started as a connection between a seasoned administrator and a young student surveyor grew into a bond forged by shared passion, conviction, and an unshakable belief in the future of our Institution.
Over the years, that relationship blossomed. It deepened when I served on Council, and reached its finest expression during my time as Secretary General of the NIS. That period… our own Bonny and Clyde era… was one of courage, bold reforms, and meaningful impact. We challenged the norm. We made changes that mattered. We built something enduring.
And I say this with all sincerity, I could not have done any of it without you. For that, I will remain forever grateful.
Mr. Adeyanju, you gave your all to the NIS. Not just your time… not just your intellect… but your very life. Your loyalty, your love, and your passion shaped generations. The profession stands today on foundations you helped lay, often quietly, often sacrificially.
I remember the late nights… the early mornings… the long phone calls filled with ideas, debates, laughter, and purpose. Even after you left official office, those moments never stopped. That connection never faded.
And now… it is painful to accept that we will no longer have those conversations face to face.
But why, Mr. Adeyanju… why leave without a goodbye?
Yet, who are we to question God?
So we take solace where we can, in prayer, in gratitude, and in the duty to keep your legacy alive. We ask God to receive your gentle soul, and we commit ourselves to ensuring that your contributions will never be forgotten.
I will miss you deeply.
Our loss… is truly Heaven’s gain.
On behalf of a grateful profession, I say thank you.
Thank you for your life.
Thank you for your service.
And thank you to your family, for sharing you with us.
May your dear soul rest in perfect peace.
You are gone… but you will never, ever be forgotten.
