James Anthony “Rut” Rutland

July 14, 1962 - March 8, 2026

James Anthony Rutland, known as “Rut”, passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 63. He was born on July 14, 1962, in Tylertown, Mississippi, and spent much of His life in Jayess, Mississippi, where he resided at the time of his passing.

Rut was known for his strong spirit, his love for his family, and the many memories he created with those around him. To the people who knew him best, he was more than just a name—He was someone who left an impression through his personality, his stories, and the time he shared with those he loved.

Family was an important part of Rut’s life. He carried with him the memory of those who passed before him, including his mother, Ruby Rutland; his father, James Paul Rutland; his sister Rhonda Rutland; and his son TJ Rutland, their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Rut leaves behind loved ones who will continue to cherish his memory: his son, Nicholas Hodges; his grandsons, James (JC) Ingram and AJ Hodges; his sister, Vickie Boyd-Taylor; his niece Angel Powell; nephew Daryl Boyd. Through them, his legacy and the memories they shared will continue to live on.

Rut will be remembered for the moments he shared with family and friends, the laughter and stories, and the mark he left on those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
